Puppy School Alexandra Headland
Looking for Puppy School in Alexandra Headland? Our flexible weekly puppy training helps you build the foundations for a calm, confident and well-mannered companion.
Charlotte works with you on the skills that matter in everyday life – including recall, lead walking, settling at home, impulse control, confidence, socialisation and comfortable handling for the vet and groomer.
Start when you are ready. Pause when you need to. There are no fixed intakes and no long-term lock-in.
How Our Puppy Training Works
No waiting for the next four-week intake. Your puppy joins at the appropriate stage, trains at their own pace and progresses when they are ready.
Start at the Right Stage
Puppies can begin from around 8 weeks old. Before their second vaccinations they attend Puppy Preschool. After their second vaccinations they move into Puppy School.
Book Each Week
Activate your weekly membership and use your client portal to book the appropriate class. Our classes are rolling, so there are no fixed course start dates.
Progress at Your Puppy’s Pace
Charlotte and the trainers tick off skills as your puppy achieves them. Once the required criteria are complete, your puppy can move to the next level.
Much More Than Sit and Stay
Puppy School is designed to help you develop the companion you want to live with – not simply a puppy that can perform a few commands.
We work on useful behaviours that make everyday life easier at home, on walks and when your puppy is out experiencing the world.
Charlotte also teaches you how your puppy learns, how to reward effectively and how to continue building good behaviour between classes.
- Recall and coming when called
- Loose-lead walking
- Focus around distractions

- Settling calmly at home

Puppy Preschool or Puppy School?
We separate our youngest puppies according to their vaccination stage for an important health and safety reason.
Puppy Preschool
Puppy Preschool is for young puppies who have not yet had their second vaccinations.
Once puppies have received their second vaccinations, they generally begin spending more time in public environments such as footpaths, parks and other places where dogs have been.
Keeping our youngest puppies together means they are not mixing in class with puppies already being exposed to the wider environment.
This allows important early training to begin while helping reduce unnecessary health risks for our youngest puppies.
Puppy School
Once your puppy has received their second vaccinations, they move into Puppy School.
Puppy School is available up to a maximum age of 20 weeks.
Charlotte helps you continue developing practical skills, confidence, calmness and good everyday behaviour.
Once your puppy successfully meets the Puppy School criteria, you can choose to continue into Level 1 training.
Give Your Alexandra Headland Puppy a Strong Start
The first months of your puppy’s life are an important time for developing confidence, good habits and the skills they will use as they grow.
For Alexandra Headland families, everyday life may involve busy neighbourhood walks, meeting new people and dogs, travelling in the car, visiting local cafés or simply learning how to settle at home when there is plenty happening outside.
Good puppy training prepares your dog for those everyday experiences, rather than only teaching behaviours that work inside a training class.
Practical Skills for Real Life
Charlotte’s approach combines practical training, confidence building, appropriate socialisation and useful everyday skills.
The aim is to help your puppy grow into a calm, confident and well-mannered dog that you enjoy sharing your life with.
Start Anytime
Traditional puppy schools often require you to wait for the next course to begin. We do things differently.
Our classes operate on a rolling basis. If your puppy is at the appropriate age and vaccination stage and a place is available, you can get started.
You might attend Puppy Preschool and stop there. You might continue through Puppy School. Or you may decide to progress through our later obedience levels.
How far you go is completely up to you.
Start when you want. Pause when you need to. Stop when you have achieved what you wanted.

What Happens After Puppy School?
Puppy School doesn’t have to be the end. If you would like to keep training, your dog can progress through our structured levels as they successfully achieve the required skills.
Charlotte and the trainers assess your dog during normal group classes. Skills are ticked off as they are achieved and once all the required criteria are complete, your dog is ready to move up.
There is no set number of weeks at each level. Your dog moves forward when they are ready, and Charlotte will help you work towards the next step.

Why Puppy School Matters
The habits puppies learn during their early months can have a big influence on everyday life as they grow.
Behaviours such as jumping, pulling on lead, mouthing, poor focus, over-excitement and difficulty settling can be much easier to work on while your dog is young.
But good puppy training isn’t simply about stopping unwanted behaviours. It teaches your puppy what you would like them to do instead.
That might mean learning to settle while the family is relaxing, walking without constantly pulling towards everything they see, remaining calm while being examined by a vet, allowing their paws and ears to be handled or focusing on you when something exciting is happening nearby.
Our Alexandra Headland puppy training program is designed around these practical everyday skills.
Puppy School becomes a foundation for life with your dog – not simply a few weeks of obedience exercises.

That is fine. Charlotte can help determine the appropriate starting point based on your puppy’s age, vaccination stage and current training.
Dogs moving directly into Level 1 need to have successfully completed Puppy School with Charlotte or be assessed as having the equivalent skills.
If your dog is not quite ready, Charlotte can arrange private training to help you reach the required level before joining the group.
